About Pencil Sharpeners

A device that is designed to sharpen wooden pencils is known as a pencil sharpener. Pencils are made from wood that surrounds a soft material (the pencil’s lead) which is used to make marks on a surface, as this soft material is deposited on a surface the amount of lead that protrudes from the wood becomes shorter. A pencil sharpener works by removing wood from an area near the tip of a pencil so that more lead is exposed, the wood is cut by a blade as the pencil is manually, mechanically or electrically rotated in the device. Pencil sharpeners may have one hole or multiple holes into which pencils of various sizes can be inserted ready for sharpening.
